Walking Shelter Dogs

The dogs at the shelters always love company and someone to play with. The best way to help some of these dogs is to visit the shelter and to find a dog that you feel a special bond with. Then you can take that dog for a walk whenever you can.

This is something that makes the time a dog spends in the shelter so much better. It also helps us know more about that special dog, better publicize its information, and increases its chances of finding a home! If you have a camera, please take photos whenever you can!

As you get to know the dog better you can also take him or her on outings, perhaps to the beach or to a local café. Who knows, someone who sees the dog behaving itself so well when told it is from the shelter may want to adopt. And, if the dog does find a home, perhaps you would like to do the house control and visit the dog in its new home?

If you find a special companion dog we could also put that dog up for virtual adoption and sponsor any vet care he or she may need.

Ally: From Goldra.

Ally became the dog cared for by Mary. Mary frequently went to Goldra to walk Ally. At first Ally was a bit scared outside of the shelter gates and wondered what was happening but very soon Ally looked forward to Mary’s visits and their special time together. Mary took Ally to visit with children, on outings, gave her a bath and even took Ally to the Lagos dog show where she won a prize. Soon Ally was really ready for a new home and with all the information we had about Ally this home was found. Ally now lives in the West Algarve where she is a much beloved family pet.
